February 2009

If posters are our bread and butter, garment printing and design is the knife we cut and spread it with.  Doing posters isn’t easy, but decorating garments is a bit more difficult due to the wide variety of materials, shapes, and sizes the designs and ink have to be manipulated into.  It is for this reason when we can create a really great garment (with helpful detailed and dedicated client input!) that we are so stoked.

Here we have the Concert Chick T we put together with Denise owner of Concert Chick.  We visualized the design from great sketches Denise provided and began a very detailed and lengthy back and forth to develop the final design.  What we ended up with is a 5 color front (with metallic copper foil), 5 color back, and single color interior tag print using soft water-based inks on a great Alternative Apparel top. These are some of the more complex and impressive shirts to come of our press, so keep checking in at concertchick.com for details about when these are available to purchase!  Thanks Denise!

On Thursday, February 19, AIGA Miami presents “Pull+Ink,” the third event in its Parallels series. December’s “Words Make Pictures” and January’s “Moving Pixels” enjoyed a standing room-only audience, so don’t miss out on this exciting event where top screen-printers discuss and demonstrate their art and offer original works for sale.

For this event, AIGA Miami proudly welcomes Jeff Matz, Principal of Lure Design in Orlando, and Ian Rowan & Chuck Loose of Iron Forge Press in Ft. Lauderdale.

The event is FREE and open to the public. AIGA invites anyone curious about creativity to be part of the conversation, especially students and those new to the industry looking for insight from seasoned professionals.

**Special Announcement: Opening Remarks by Charles McArthur at 7pm
AIGA welcomes Charles McArthur, from the paper company Domtar, who will give opening remarks at this event. This service is part of AIGA Miami’s ongoing commitment to educate the public on sustainability. Mr. McArthur will address attendees on the importance of environmentally responsible paper, such as the Domtar EarthChoice line.

Here is a preview of the 3 color poster we colloaborated with Jeff Matz to create for the AIGA event: Metallic Silver, Fluorescent Green/Glow In The Dark mix, and Fluorescent Pink

Recently we were fortunate enough to do a poster for the Eagles and live nation framed a few for the band as mementos/thank yous for doing the shows.  We have a remaining few for sale in our store, grab some for yourself or your favorite Eagles fan!  Designed by Mr. Rowan of Iron Forge Press. Printed by the masterful Chuck and Basilio on 18″x23″ French “Madero Beach” stock. Embellished with metallic gold, copper, and silver ink as well as red and white.
